Our life-saving work started when parents made a promise to their dying son.

In November 1986, Paul O’Gorman was diagnosed with leukaemia. He died just nine weeks later. He was fourteen years old. Less than a year after losing their son, Eddie and Marion O’Gorman lost their daughter, Jean, also to cancer. Before his death, Eddie and Marion promised to help other children with leukaemia, so no other child would have their life cut short by this dreadful disease.

We work tirelessly to keep this promise - and, today, we work to give children a better chance in their fight against all types of cancer. What started as a small memorial foundation is now the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.

Cancer, already the biggest child-killer disease in the UK, is on the increase.

Over 3,300 youngsters, including infants and babies, are diagnosed with this dreadful disease every year.

Not so long ago, a diagnosis of leukaemia - the most common childhood cancer - was a virtual death sentence for a child. Today, thanks to advances in research and treatment, 80% of children with leukaemia survive.

Sadly, this is not true for all forms of childhood cancer.

With your generous support, we can help children today and in the future and save every young life that might otherwise be lost forever. For more information, please visit

CHILDREN with CANCER UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against all childhood cancers. Our aims are to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.

In the last ten years, we have raised more than £100 million, thanks to our valued supporters.

• We fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer.

We fund innovative welfare projects to provide better care for young cancer patients and their families.

• We campaign to raise awareness of childhood cancer, to protect more children and to improve the lives of young cancer patients, today and for future generations.

Over the past 24 years, the charity has grown from a small memorial foundation into a major force in paediatric oncology. We couldn’t continue our life-saving work without your help -thank you.   I   020 7404 0808
